Growth

Even if you’re not ready, the world isn’t going to go in standstill and wait for you to catch up. It’s going to keep moving forward, you can’t pause time and hope that eventually you’ll be in the right place at the ‘right’ time. Say life’s a game, and you’re playing on beginner level when you have the ability to go above and beyond and tackle the expert level. Do you really have the motivation to continually succeed in your comfort zone but never improve?  Is that really winning?

I know I’d rather play the game on expert level and fail numerous times before I succeed. I believe in myself and my dedication that I can achieve whatever is put in front of me. Why? Because that’s the kind of person I want to be. I want to be the kind of person who wants to learn, the kind of person to take any opportunity to develop themselves to make themselves the best possible version of them in that moment of time. Life is ongoing, it continuously moves forward. You need to be willing to take the risk, to take the leap from comfort into growth. Go on the journey, face the obstacles, climb over the obstacles and continuously move forward.

Understanding that the importance in life is in the journey and that’s key in deciding what road to take. Do you always have to take the ‘right’ way because that’s what’s signposted? Life has no definite destination so why follow the directions completely by the book? It’s your life, you decide what direction to take.

Of course there’s always a chance of meeting a dead end, but it’s a road well discovered. You learn from your mistakes; how can you ensure that you are always learning if you haven’t experienced failure? A dead end doesn’t mean the end of your journey, you just change to reverse gear and track back your actions. Reflect on your decisions, is there somewhere that you can improve? If so, would that have changed your destination?

If you don’t feel fully equipped to backtrack, ask someone to stand behind you and help give you advice on how to get back on track. Feedback is one of the most valuable things in development, you can only see what’s right in front of you. Others can see what’s around you, they have a 360’ perspective, they see things about you that you may have never considered. Being oblivious to areas of development can be dismissed because of our ego and the way we perceive ourselves. Acknowledging that feedback, no matter what form it’s given is valuable.

Open your eyes, open your mind and take the leap. With perseverance and an open mind set we can continue on our journey to better ourselves and others around us.
