Faith is commonly referred to within the religious context, yet faith is defined as ‘complete trust or confidence in someone or something’. Coming from a generation that is experiencing the culture of ‘trust issues’ and increasing individualised insecurities due the increasing pressures of societal norms and standards it seems to be a common trend to lose faith. Similar to all my other posts, this isn’t subjected to the whole of society, yet building on my own experiences and others around me.
Wanting to believe in something bigger than you, to me that’s
what it’s about. Whether you immerse yourself into a culture, a lifestyle or a
religion, understanding that the way you perceive the world isn’t necessarily defined
by your past experience yet the mind set and perspective which you chose to
view the present world.
Think about faith like a pair of glasses, we don’t all need
to wear them. Although for some of us our faith is required and practiced at
all times and for some of us we don’t need to believe in something in order to
live our lives. Some of us only have to wear glasses for certain occasions, we
only call upon our faith in difficult situations, when we need reminded of our
vision and of the bigger picture. Some of us need glasses for close up work; we
require faith in personal present situations where as some of us need glasses
to see what’s in the distance and to believe that our faith will guide our
future.
The beautiful thing about faith is that we all own our own
pair of glasses, we all view the world in an individualised perspective yet
some of us share a prescription. It’s common to have similar beliefs, to live
by the same values, but it is also common to experience diversity within
opinion and in faith. Yet understanding that we all have a similar goal, just
like a pair of glasses; we want to believe in something bigger than the
intrinsic. It’s now about the transition
of acceptance and allowing and promoting diversity in society and recognising
the beauty in the current world we live in. We’re in a world with progressive
thinking, acts of kindness, love and opportunity. Like many of my other posts I’ve
explored the importance of people but most importantly I’ve discovered the
importance in trusting yourself and being confident within yourself, allowing
your view on the world to be your faith, to be the one thing that you set your
life standards to.
