People

The world is so caught up in modern day advances, whether that’s of intelligence, technology or money; that the most valuable thing in life can be left aside. People, people are people and people are fantastic. Surround yourself with good people, people with ambition, people with goals and purpose, people that care about other people.

The way you present yourself in a situation will influence the dynamic of the team. Positivity, happiness and belief rubs off. “Be the kind of person you want to meet”. Be happy being you, because you’re awesome. You may be unaware of it, but you’re an inspiration.

Question 1: Who is your inspiration?

Question 2: Why are they your inspiration?

For me the answer is simple. It’s because my inspiration is the kind of person I want to be. Their approach to a situation and their approach with other people inspires me to be the person to continue their legacy. The legacy of building rapport, the legacy of being positive, the legacy of being an inspiration.

Follow in their footsteps but don’t steal their shoes. Just do you, everyone is unique and brilliant in their own way! Accept others for who they are, because that's who they're choosing to be.

Influence other people to continue their legacy. Be a role model for other people, but most importantly be your own role model. Are your actions a true reflection of the person that you want to be? Do what-ever needs to be done to fulfil the potential of being your own role model. You may have to take a risk, go completely out of your comfort zone and take the leap, but it will be worth it. It will be worth all of the hard work, the risks and the challenges if you are content with the person that you are and the person that you are becoming.

Remembering that people are the most valuable things in the world, the only thing that is certain of remaining until the very end. Even if we’re not here, ensure the legacy of being a good person, the kind of person people want to be around continues. Be a team player, be a leader in your own right, be happy, be an inspiration and most importantly be your own inspiration.

The Jigsaw Puzzle

Learn to sit back and take a look at the bigger picture. The picture is made up of thousands of different pigments, different colours, different thoughts and different meanings. The ‘bigger picture’ is essentially creating a collage of individual and contrasting images that work inclusively to represent something bigger, your world. Essentially life is like a jigsaw puzzle, where each piece represents unique and meaningful factors that interlink and connect to one another in a constant network of emotions that link an individual’s values to their actions in parallel to their reactions. Understanding what is important in your life is imperative in guiding your actions, working as a connecting piece from your internal thoughts to your external responses maintaining a healthy equilibrium.   Your three dimensional being inclusive of your values, actions and reactions contribute to the jigsaw yet are not isolated in its making. If they say life is about the bigger picture than fa...

Faith

Faith is commonly referred to within the religious context, yet faith is defined as ‘complete trust or confidence in someone or something’. Coming from a generation that is experiencing the culture of ‘trust issues’ and increasing individualised insecurities due the increasing pressures of societal norms and standards it seems to be a common trend to lose faith. Similar to all my other posts, this isn’t subjected to the whole of society, yet building on my own experiences and others around me. Wanting to believe in something bigger than you, to me that’s what it’s about. Whether you immerse yourself into a culture, a lifestyle or a religion, understanding that the way you perceive the world isn’t necessarily defined by your past experience yet the mind set and perspective which you chose to view the present world. Think about faith like a pair of glasses, we don’t all need to wear them. Although for some of us our faith is required and practiced at all times and for some of us w...

Marcienne

I found myself when I found these people. I understood what it truly means to be human, to be connected and to love someone purely because of their existence. They’ve allowed me to wake up every single morning and ask myself what’s really important. From a country of complete conflict, hate, discrimination and violence where in the space of 100 days, one million people were violently slaughtered due to their ethnicity, I now see a country functioning on nothing but love, hope and respect for each other with the primary focus of creating a pathway to societal progress which fundamentally functions based on community. Four years ago I was fortunate enough to meet a 90 year old woman named Marcienne, who in 1994 witnessed the slaughter of five of her children and the love of her life. Along with thousands of people still living with the trauma of the genocide today, she has nothing but love to give. Imagine walking into a community to be greeted by groups of people just thankful for ...
