Be a good person

At every given moment the opportunity arises, the opportunity to be a good person; every situation provides you with a choice, the choice whether to champion one another and support others when required, the choice whether to better yourself by bettering others.

You may view your impact as minor, something so simple and quick. Yet this contribution works like a puzzle piece, it’s a contribution to the bigger picture. Imagine if this one simple action was global and popularly out taken by a percentage of the human race. Then adjust your perspective, your impact becomes augment. Pick an everyday action that’s out taken by a large amount of people, such as taking public transport. Imagine if just 10% of those riding it struck conversation with someone sat next to them, then suddenly it doubles in size, 20%. A simple yet friendly conversation allows the opportunity to be a good person; a person who cares about other people, who wants to listen and to effectively impact their day, be that person, the person to make a stranger smile.

Be the person who wants to make every bodies day a fraction better.

Remember every action requires a reaction, a response that will determine the future. Whether that is an instant effect or a long term effect, making the choice to be kind will no doubt spur a positive response.

The Jigsaw Puzzle

Learn to sit back and take a look at the bigger picture. The picture is made up of thousands of different pigments, different colours, different thoughts and different meanings. The ‘bigger picture’ is essentially creating a collage of individual and contrasting images that work inclusively to represent something bigger, your world. Essentially life is like a jigsaw puzzle, where each piece represents unique and meaningful factors that interlink and connect to one another in a constant network of emotions that link an individual’s values to their actions in parallel to their reactions. Understanding what is important in your life is imperative in guiding your actions, working as a connecting piece from your internal thoughts to your external responses maintaining a healthy equilibrium.   Your three dimensional being inclusive of your values, actions and reactions contribute to the jigsaw yet are not isolated in its making. If they say life is about the bigger picture than fa...

Faith

Faith is commonly referred to within the religious context, yet faith is defined as ‘complete trust or confidence in someone or something’. Coming from a generation that is experiencing the culture of ‘trust issues’ and increasing individualised insecurities due the increasing pressures of societal norms and standards it seems to be a common trend to lose faith. Similar to all my other posts, this isn’t subjected to the whole of society, yet building on my own experiences and others around me. Wanting to believe in something bigger than you, to me that’s what it’s about. Whether you immerse yourself into a culture, a lifestyle or a religion, understanding that the way you perceive the world isn’t necessarily defined by your past experience yet the mind set and perspective which you chose to view the present world. Think about faith like a pair of glasses, we don’t all need to wear them. Although for some of us our faith is required and practiced at all times and for some of us w...

Ubuntu

“ I am what I am because of who we are” We are all bound together by things that are invisible to the eye, by our emotions, by our gratitude and by our compassion towards others. Ubuntu is a faceless philosophy that binds us together to create something more than just the individual. Ubuntu asks us to open our hearts and allow others to inspire our hearts to live for more than just ourselves; to encourage the creation of a more collective society and to consider the success of the group above that of the individual. Suggesting that the only way for us to be human is to share our humanity with other people and to have it reflected back at us, understanding that our Ubuntu is what connects us with the world. The philosophy that doesn’t judge our success on money or materialism yet for our kindness towards and our willingness to help others. A perspective that believes the progression of the world lays in the collection of simple gestures of compassion towards others rather tha...
